Colleen works with business, government and non-governmental organisations as a facilitator of strategy and leadership development. Her expertise is in social entrepreneurship and out-of-classroom learning methods, particularly dialogue and experiential learning. She is also a faculty member at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), and previously managed its Policy, Leadership and Gender Studies Unit, which brings together leaders from across the three sectors to broaden awareness and involvement in socio-economic issues, and to create a more inclusive democracy.

Colleen has published in international academic journals, supervised a number of teaching cases on social entrepreneurship, and edited the book: Dust to Diamonds: Stories of South African Social Entrepreneurs, published by Pan MacMillan (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dust-Diamonds-Stories-African-Entrepreneurs/dp/1...). Colleen has also recently co-authored a book called Mapping Dialogue: Essential Tools for Social Change, published by the Taos Institute.

Previous to GIBS, Colleen co-founded an international learning network of social change agents called Pioneers of Change (www.pioneersofchange.net). Pioneers of Change now involve people from over 70 countries in its programmes and activities.

Colleen graduated from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (previously University of Port Elizabeth), with a dual degree in Law and Economics, and has a Masters degree in Organisational Change and Knowledge Management from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. She has also attended the following executive programmes: “Making Markets Work” and “Teaching the Practice of Management”, both offered by Harvard Business School.
